Tried to share my feelings at dinner last night.
FS is off for a Labor Day break. We’ve made childcare arrangements. I was reacting to my perception of how other parents manage interruptions in childcare.
I shared that I felt out of control of my career. That nothing I do about work is my choice and that doesn’t feel good. EM tried to tell me that I shouldn’t blame myself. But I think it’s important to acknowledge that I’m part of the problem. I keep avoiding making a change.
I should really let myself be sad. As a dad, I think I’ve avoided getting too gloomy, because I don’t want to be nonfunctional for the kids. But when you don’t let yourself be sad, you don’t get the motivation you need to make a change.
I need. To Get. Down in the dumps.
